Kelly Rowland [born Kelendria Trene Rowland on February 11th 1981 in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A.] is a Grammy Award-winning American RnB singer, songwriter, dancer, and occasional actress, who rose to fame as one of the founding members of the successful RnB girl group Destiny's Child, the world's best-selling female group of all time selling over 100 million records worldwide. She is known to have a four ocatave vocal range, and is classified as a soprano.
'Ms. Kelly' is the second solo studio album by American RnB singer Kelly Rowland, which was released by on June 22nd 2007 in Europe, June 25th 2007 in the UK and on July 3rd 2007 in New Zealand and the United States. Rowland, who cited former bandmate Beyonce, Brandy and Whitney Houston as major inspirations while recording her album, eventually consulted a few other songwriters and producers to collaborate on the album, renamed 'Ms. Kelly', including Mysto And Pizzi, Sean Garrett, Scott Storch, and Atlanta-based Polow Da Don, who contributed the single 'Like This', a duet with rapper Eve, to the album. "I really put my heart and soul into this record," she said in an interview, "and not only am I excited that everyone's going to hear the music, I'm looking forward to people getting to hear the real me. That's the reason I called the album Ms. Kelly. Because the title is all about respect, being an adult and that's how I feel about my life, and my music." 'Ms. Kelly' debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard Top RnB/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and at number 6 on the official Billboard 200.
