"hello everybody
i have some very unfortunate news: hacksaw to the throat is disbanding. everyone in the band is planning some pretty drastic life changes in the near future and it does not appear that our changes will be able to coincide. we had planned to stick it out for another year, make one last album, and have one last tour, but lumpy (bass) recently told us that he is leaving at the end of the summer. this situation forced us to assess whether or not the next year of hacksaw would be worth the trouble of finding a new bass player we really like, teaching him all our shit, writing of new shit, using lots of money and time to record new shit, spending tons of time organizing a national tour for next summer, etc. (all this made more difficult by our daily lives of school, work, ladies, life...) we decided it would be more work and stress than the next year of hacksaw would be worth, and we felt that with so much going on our music would probably suffer as a result. we are all firm believers that it is better to go out with a bang than a whimper, and with our new album (wastelands) finally out and the great times we had on our recent tour with spires, it is as if we have reached some kind of acceptable climax for our band. there is the possibility that we will play music together again in the future, but for now we have decided to go on an indefinite hiatus. the whole thing is really unfortunate and it has definitely been hard on all of us... i mean shit, this band has been the most important thing in my life since i was fifteen years old and i feel almost naked without it... but despite how hard it is to give up something so embedded and personal, it is important to acknowledge when change is necessary, because in change there is the possibility of growth.
we have written two new songs that we are in the process of recording and mixing. when they are done they will be available for free on our myspace and website (www.hacksawtothethroat.com).
we will also be playing one last show, hopefully in september, in the bay area for all of our friends and local fans. we will probably play an absolutely absurd amount of songs. i hope that your ear drums and our backs/lungs/throats hold up all the way through it. we do not have venue confirmed yet, but i will post it as soon as we do.
thank you to all of our friends, family, and fans who have helped us in more ways than i could possibly describe; without your support and encouragement we would have never grown into what we are today.
