'Elton John's Greatest Hits, Volume III (1987) Remaster (2009)'!
From the years 1979 to 1987, Elton John continued to establish himself as a Pop-Rock icon, although not always under the easiest of circumstances. In 1978, for a couple of years he and penultimate songsmith, Bernie Taupin parted ways, so it was up to the English gentleman to prove that he could make it on his own. After auspicious beginnings on the album, 'A Single Man', with the excellent instrumental, 'Song For Guy', it was evident that Elton missed Bernie more than he would probably have admitted, and with the likes of Davey Johnstone joining Alice Cooper's band for his '79 opus, 'From The Inside', Elton was indeed on his own. However, fortunately for us all, the two put aside their differences and came up with some strong material in the early '80s, if not their best overall. In any case, now YOU can check out the newly remastered, 'Greatest Hits, Volume III' to judge for yourself! On this disc, YOU will also find the rare collaboration with Heidi Stern aka Jennifer Rush on her Hit, 'Flames Of Paradise', and the Friendship anthem number one (As long as no one asks Andrew Gold!), 'That's What Friends Are For' where Elton joins Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder & Gladys Knight to make the charts jingle! - Rick Wilson, former Rock Radio Journalist with Radio Canale Grandé.
